The City Blossoms Driving the Housing Market

Colorado Springs regularly makes the top of many national lists as one of the best cities to buy a home as well as to visit. We’ve always been proud of our non-conforming laid-back city nestled at the base of the foothills of the Rockies. The Springs has been sort of a secret as it has quietly savored what it considers its own – Pikes Peak aka America’s Mountain.

But, things are changing here and it’s good, we’re prouder than ever! What’s new is we find Downtown Colorado Springs bustling with entrepreneurs working on new trendy concepts for their latest hospitality acquisitions. In the coming year, we’ll see Downtown emerging with fresh new boutique hotels, apartments, shops, and restaurants. The Olympic Museum also opens in 2020 and, a $35mil Soccer Stadium is coming in 2021, all right downtown. It’s a glorious time for our city drawing everyone from millennials to boomers alike to tour and to live.

And, with that glory, come families that want a piece of the real estate action by purchasing a home. After all, Colorado Springs’ home prices are a fraction of what they are in our counterpart, Denver. Making a home purchase using the VA loan with zero to very little down makes sense to many. History shows that, overall, Colorado Springs homes enjoy a natural and gradual appreciation. As a result, Colorado Springs homes sell as quickly as they come on the market which has reduced the inventory of homes available for sale.

Housing Solutions for Buyers

Even with a low inventory, buying a great home is not impossible. With some determination and a good hands-on Realtor who is working for you, watching for new quality listings, viewing new listings, sending you video, making recommendations, and communicating the right way on your behalf can all help land the perfect home for you.

But, if it weren’t for new home construction growth in our city, we would have no place to house the influx of families. New home sales are booming and we’re thankful for that.

Here’s what we see as some benefits to buying a new home in Colorado Springs for the PCSing family:

  • There a good number of new home communities.
  • A brand new home typically meets the specific needs of active duty service members and their families.
  • A new home can be reserved for as little as $1,000.
  • Getting quickly settled into a brand new home is easy. There’s no re-painting and fix-up repairs.
  • A new home offers a good value for the service member and can be easier to sell when you move away.
  • Builders provide generous incentives to buyers including military ones.

There are hundreds of brand new neighborhoods around Colorado Springs. Some of these communities are located close the Fort Carson, Peterson Air Force and Shriever Air Force Base giving the commuting service member an added advantage of time with a shorter drive.
