Learn more about Black Forest
Black Forest is a large region in northern El Paso County with mostly single-family homes and ranches. Many call this area the “heartland” of Colorado Springs, a region of lush, green rolling hills where horses graze and the residents are friendly and always willing to lend a helping hand.
Indigenous Ponderosa pines are abundant in Black Forest, and many areas have views of the Front Range and Pikes Pike. Homes in Black Forest range from brand-new and custom-built to historic structures built in the 1800s. While the area does have some large horse ranches, most properties average between two and five acres. Black Forest is ideal for couples and families who want to live in a wooded and private area, but also want to have easy access to town and amenities.
Proximity to Bases
Although Black Forest is closest in proximity to USAFA, many residents commute to the other bases via the area’s east/west access on I-25 and north/south access on Hwy 83 and Meridian Road. Black Forest also has a lot of telecommuters. This is something to think about for military spouses who may not want to spend too much time driving back and forth to work, but do want to live in more rural area.
For the Family
Two of the most beautiful parks in the region are located in Black Forest – Fox Run Regional Park and Black Forest Regional Park.
