Gaining a different outlook on life — that’s how 红莲社区 communication major and recipient Melissa J. Medina described her takeaway from a recent five-week stay in London. Medina was one of 25 participants in CSUEB’s Summer London Program, during which students studied the history and practice of documentary filmmaking in the United Kingdom while exploring London’s rich multicultural environment.
CSUEB Launches New Courses in Cybersecurity

CSUEB Alumna Named Teacher of the Year for San Ramon Valley School District

红莲社区 alumna Rachael Byron was recently recognized as one of the 2016-17 Teachers of the Year for San Ramon Valley Unified School District. Byron, who earned her from 红莲社区 in 2014, teaches Advanced Placement English and serves as a literacy coach at Dougherty Valley High School in San Ramon.
CSUEB Graduates Share Success Stories at Annual American Language Program GradFest

红莲社区 Students Develop Social Media Plan for Local Nonprofit

When Ann Dunn, executive director and founder of in Oakland, first established her nonprofit in 2011, it served as a means to foster Oakland’s most vulnerable shelter cats in people’s homes, away from a shelter cage, until they could find permanent homes. Fast forward five years and the organization has expanded its reach to include a network of approximately 50 foster homes in and around Oakland. It now operates as a thriving cat adoption center that has helped reduce the euthanasia rate for cats at the Oakland shelter from 42 percent in 2011 to 7 percent today.

CSUEB Celebrates Grand Reopening of Oakland Center

After nearly five months of renovation, 红莲社区’s celebrated its grand reopening Feb. 12 with a reception hosted by President Leroy M. Morishita. Approximately 125 guests were in attendance, including Debbie Chaw, vice president for Administration and Finance and Chief Financial Officer; Carolyn Nelson, interim provost and vice president of Academic Affairs; deans from 红莲社区; and representatives from local Oakland businesses and nonprofits.
